This winter the city museums open 9.30 to 17.00, BRUSK shows High Tide until 14 March, and the Groeninge Museum closes on 11 January 2027 for four years. Its masterpieces move to BRUSK from 12 March.

    Winter hours from 3 November

From 3 November to 31 March the city museums open 9.30 to 17.00, an hour earlier to close than in summer. The Groeninge Museum is closed on Mondays and, since 1 April 2026, the Gruuthuse Museum on Wednesdays, so plan those two around their closing days.

BRUSK, the exhibition hall on the Dijver, opens Tuesday to Sunday.

High Tide at BRUSK, until 14 March

High Tide is about humanity and the sea, told through fashion and contemporary art. It is curated by Karen Van Godtsenhoven and runs from 30 October 2026 to 14 March 2027 at BRUSK, Dijver 12, next to the Groeninge Museum.

Tickets: €20, under 26 €15, under 18 €10, under 13 free. The Musea Brugge Card covers BRUSK.

    The Groeninge Museum's last weeks

The Groeninge Museum closes on 11 January 2027 for a renovation of about four years. 11 January is a Monday, when the museum is closed anyway, so Sunday 10 January is the last day to see the Flemish masters in their own rooms.

They do not leave Bruges. From 12 March 2027 the key works hang at BRUSK, in The Groeninge Collection: The Art of Looking, planned until 30 June 2031.

One portrait is already away: Jan van Eyck's Margareta van Eyck is at the National Gallery in London from 21 November 2026 to 11 April 2027, and comes back to BRUSK on 19 April.

    Over Christmas and New Year

On 24 and 31 December the Groeninge Museum closes at 16.00; on 25 December and 1 January it is closed.
